Rihanna set to make US pop chart history!!

Files under Rihanna | Comments Off

Rihanna is all set to make pop chart history in America on Thursday when she becomes the female artist with the biggest jump to number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Her ‘Take a Bow’ is expected to rocket to the top of the singles chart from a lowly 53, thanks to a whopping 267,000 digital download sales.

The song’s jump is the second-best leap to the top, trailing only Rihanna’s duet partners Maroon 5 who scored a number one with ‘Makes Me Wonder’ a year ago after a 63-position hike from 64.

Rihanna’s collaboration with Maroon 5 on ‘If I Never See Your Face Again’ is expected to be one of the new charts highest debuts when the official countdown is released.

Ri Ri and CB’s Date Night

Files under Rihanna | Comments Off

The love fest rolls on for Rihanna and Chris Brown, who spent Wednesday night taking in a Kanye West show at Spotlight Live, a Times Square restaurant and karaoke bar.

A day after Rihanna helped Brown celebrate his 19th birthday at a Manhattan club, the pair got affectionate in plain view of other concertgoers.

Brown draped his arm around Rihanna, 20, as the two danced, clapped and sang along to the short concert. As West left the stage, Rihanna leaned over and planted a big kiss on Brown. The couple then retreated to the back of the restaurant, where they hung out with friends.

But officially, they’re still playing coy. An hour after the concert ended, the couple retreated out the back door, posing for pictures – separately. Brown and Rihanna both stopped when fans asked to take photos with them, but they declined to be photographed together.

Although they’ve been spotted getting cozy from Europe to the Caribbean – including during a romantic vacation in Jamaica in February – Brown and Rihanna have never publicly confirmed their relationship.

Earlier this month, Rihanna shared the most information yet when she told Elle Magazine that she and Brown had become “very close.”

“Bleeding Love” slips to No. 2 this week, with Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop” featuring Static Major down 2-3. Danity Kane’s “Damaged” inches up 11-10 to round out the top tier, its first top 10 hit since 2006. The week’s top debut belongs to Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” which is available as an immediate download with pre-orders of the band’s forthcoming Capitol album, “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends.”

As his self-titled sophomore set lands at No. 7 on The Billboard 200, Gavin DeGraw’s “In Love With a Girl” surges 34-24 as this week’s biggest digital sales gainer. Keyshia Cole’s “Heaven Sent” is this week’s greatest airplay gainer and rockets 83-59.

Other tracks new to the Hot 100 this week include DJ Laz’ “Move Shake Drop” at No. 56, Maroon 5’s “If I Never See Your Face Again” remix with Rihanna at No. 57, T.I.’s “No Matter What” at No. 72, Katy Perry “I Kissed a Girl” at No. 76 and Alicia Keys’ “Teenage Love Affair” at No. 78.

Rihanna writhes for indie boys…

Files under Rihanna | Comments Off

Ok, not quite… but teaming up with hot property RIHANNA is a smart move.

The pop rockers joined forces with the R’n'B singer to film a video for a remake of If I Never See Your Face Again - originally the lead track on the band’s last album It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.

Gorgeous Rihanna flaunts her figure in a low-cut red dress and writhes around seductively on a bed flashing her black suspenders.

She also steals another scene by donning a tight black basque and long gloves.

Rihanna said: “This is the only collaboration on my re-release, because I always wanted to work with Maroon 5. They’re one of my favourite bands. When they called me to do this record with them, I was so honoured.

“It’s really intense because you have to work with each other so much. It’s new for me, but I’m enjoying it.”

Frontman ADAM LEVINE said: “The only other collaboration I had done before was with KANYEWEST and it was the same way.

“It sounds cheesy, but if the magic is there, if the chemistry is there, you don’t even have to think about it.”

Adam added: “I don’t do a lot of videos where I have so much chemistry with the other artist.”

He told GQ: “My friends were like, ‘Are you serious, bro? Why didn’t you tell me about that?’ I was like, ‘I really don’t know her like that.’

“For weeks they were singing that ‘Umbrella’ song everywhere I walked. And those are my people!”

Exhausted from her busy schedule last year Barbadian singer Rihanna is now planning to relax in the rest of 2008. In an interview to Elle magazine, the 20-year-old singer revealed that she would not be working like a horse this year. “I already told everyone in my camp, ‘This year, I’m not going to work like a horse,’” Contactmusic quoted Rihanna, as saying.

The ‘Umbrella’ singer admits that she barely remembers picking up an award at the 10 February (08) ceremony, because she was so tired and couldn”t enjoy her success even when partner Jay-Z asked her how she felt. In 2007 I didn’t really get to enjoy anything that I achieved, because I was moving, moving, moving,” she said.

“Jay was asking me, ‘How does it feel? How does it feel? How does it feel?’ I was like, ‘When I get home and I lock my room and there’s silence, I’ll tell you how I feel then,’” she added.

Rihanna’s ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ re-launches as a deluxe CD/DVD

Files under Rihanna | Comments Off

Multi-platinum MTV VMA, Grammy, and American Music Award winning artist – and CoverGirl spokesperson – Rihanna raises the curtain on the upcoming new CD+DVD U.S. re-release of her worldwide multi-platinum SRP/Def Jam album ‘Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded,’ arriving in stores on June 17th – the week after the album officially marks its historic 52nd week on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Rihanna christens the deluxe new ‘Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded’ two-disc package with a new single, “Take A Bow.” The number one most requested song on the internet, ia available on I-Tunes today.

“Take A Bow” was written by fellow Def Jam artist Ne-Yo and produced by Stargate, same team responsible for Rihanna’s “Unfaithful,” her #1 smash of 2006; and “Hate That I Love You,” her Top 10 duet with Ne-Yo released late last year. The video for “Take A Bow,” directed by Anthony Mandler, went into immediate large rotation on both MTV and VH-1.

The original 12-song CD configuration of ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ - source of the non-stop string of hit singles that began with the MTV VMA and Grammy Award-winning global #1 hit “Umbrella” (featuring Jay-Z), then “Shut Up and Drive,” “Hate That I Love You” (featuring Ne-Yo), and the current “Don’t Stop the Music” – will now be augmented with four bonus tracks: 1) “Take A Bow”; 2) a cover version of Maroon 5’s “If I Never See Your Face Again” (featuring Maroon 5); 3) “Hatin’ On the Club”; and 4) “Disturbia.”

The newly-produced bonus DVD for ‘Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded’ will consist of three components: 1) 75 minutes of live concert footage from a show in Manchester, England last December 2007; 2) a 17-minute documentary feature; and 3) a four-minute home movie of “Umbrella” created by Rihanna’s band.

‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ (released June 5, 2007) was Rihanna’s third album release in less than two years. It followed-up 2006’s RIAA platinum ‘A Girl Like Me,’ with the back-to-back #1 hits, “S.O.S.” and “Unfaithful”; and her RIAA gold debut from 2005, Music Of the Sun, featuring the worldwide smash, “Pon De Replay.”

‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ boasts the production skills of Timabland, C. “Tricky” Stewart, Stargate, and the team of Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken (responsible for “S.O.S.” and “Pon De Replay”), as well as songwriting contributions from Justin Timberlake and Ne-Yo, among others.

In 2006, Rihanna created the Believe Foundation which assists and inspires children in need all over the world. Believe gives children a chance to not only survive but a chance to thrive. The foundation provides educational, financial, social and medical support whenever and wherever needed.

Bodyguards for Rihanna and Chris Brown assault tbt* photographer??

Files under Rihanna | Comments Off

Our very own paparazzo Luis Santana, 25, was beaten and robbed early Tuesday morning near Vintage Ultra Lounge in downtown St. Pete while trying to take pictures of Chris Brown celebrating his 19th birthday.

Luis got word that Brown and Rihanna (who may or may not be Brown’s girlfriend, since they refuse to confirm it to celebrity rags) were at a private party at the club, so he headed on over to help us provide your daily dose of dish. He talked to Vintage security and was told he could take photographs outside, Santana said.

After the club closed at 2 a.m., he waited outside for another half-hour or so, catching sight of Brown as he left. He said bodyguards told the hip-hopper to get in the black Excursion or Expedition limousine waiting outside the club, where Luis managed to take a couple pics of the performer.

Tbdrihanna050708_3 Bodyguards chased him into the street, ripping his shirt and forcing him to the ground, breaking his camera flash and lens, Santana said. One guard put his knee on Santana’s jaw and when he tried to push it away, the guards took the camera, worth about $3,000.

“I was yelling, ‘Call the police! Call the police!’ ” Santana said. “Then one of the guys said, ‘I am the police.’ “

Santana said he has abrasions and bruises on his chest, back and arms. Police said there could be four male suspects who are bodyguards, but their names are unknown. The suspects left the scene in the limousine.

“I’ve shot many many celebrities and this was just another notch on my belt,” Santana said. “Then it just turned sour.”

James Guttridge, manager of Vintage Ultra Lounge, said the club instructs security personnel not to get involved in altercations that happen outside the club. Guttridge said guards do not have the authority to prohibit photographers from shooting pictures outside the club, on the public right-of-way.

“Our only concern is what happens inside here,” Guttridge said.

Guttridge called the incident “unfortunate” and said he hopes celebrities will feel welcome in St. Petersburg, but also doesn’t want residents to be turned off.

Santana says he believed the incident was retaliatory after he took photos of Rihanna at International Plaza on Monday afternoon (like this photo shown here). He said Rihanna’s bodyguard pushed him at the mall, and the same bodyguard attacked him outside Vintage. Rihanna opened for Kanye West at the Ford Amphitheatre earlier that night.

And as an aside, a lot of you know Luis from working the clubs eevry weekend to get you in tbt* and our online photo gallery at tbtpics.tampabay.com.
